Case Western Reserve University and IITB connecting
Case Western Reserve University and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay have reached a memorandum of understanding designed to build on the academic and research strengths of both institutions.

Alumni Student Mentorship Program 2010 launched by Student Alumni Relations Cell
Student Alumni Relations Cell (SARC) set in motion the second phase for its Alumni Student Mentorship Program (ASMP) on 14th August, 2010 with improvised matching criteria for students and alumni. ASMP, which was launched in January, turned out to be a very effective platform for interaction between alumni and students and resulted in a lot of alumni getting reconnected with the institute. Steve Jobs features IITBian's Pulse at iPad launch
The Pulse News Reader app, which displays a grid of news feeds as thumbnail images with a short caption preview, gained a following after Apple Inc. chief executive Steve Jobs featured it during the iPad's launch. Alphonso Labs now has versions for the iPhone and Android phones. "Google Reader users can seem really stressed out and overloaded," said Kothari, who launched the company in May with fellow recent Stanford University graduate Ankit Gupta (IIT Bombay '08).

IIT, IIM grading leaves PSUs in fix
The country's centres of excellence, mentored by foreign governments, have graded their graduates based on a Western system-the cumulative grade point (CGP) index-for several years. Now a section is moving to a more conventional marking system, based on percentage, after Indian public sector undertakings have asked the Indian Institutes of Technology, the Indian Institutes of Management to provide an equivalent of their grades by giving percentages.

IITBian offers proof for P not equal to NP
IITB alum Dr. Vinay Deolalikar ('94) has offered a proof for the P=NP riddle. Dr. Deolalikar, who is with Hewlett-Packard Labs, has sent to peers copies of a proof he did stating that P is not equal to NP. Mathematicians are reviewing his work, a task that could go on for a long time. If he’s correct, Dr. Deolalikar will have figured out one of the Clay Mathematics Institute’s seven Millennium Prize Problems, for which they give $1 million prizes.
GO-IITB Launched by Class of 2010
IIT Bombay seems to be reviving the old tradition of "gurudakshina". More than 735 students of the batch passing out in 2010 pledged to donate 1% of their salaries to their alma mater. Christened "Go IIT-B: Give One for IIT Bombay", this fund-raising is in association with the IIT Bombay Heritage Fund. Their motto: Pledge now and pay later. Participants can start donating within a year after they begin to earn.
